Noch ein Garn /another yarn

...hab ich für euch. Es ist schon eine Weile fertig und wiegt 100g, zweifach gezwirnt. Die Lauflänge hab ich nicht gemessen, sondern direkt von der Spule gekurbelt. Die Mischung hieß Waldmeister, 80%Merino und 20% Seide und war von Flinkhand , ist aber inzwischen ausverkauft. Eine andere Farbe davon hatte ich vor einigen Jahren mal versponnen und diese hier war genauso traumhaft wie die erste. Vermutlich wird das Garn verwebt, aber ganz sicher bin ich da noch nicht. Aber ich weiß schon genau, für wen das fertige Stück wird, bei mir bleibt es nämlich nicht.

 

...for you. I finished it a while ago, 100gms of 2ply. I didn't take the length and wound it right from the bobbin, that's more convenient. The mix was called Woodruff, 80% Merino and 20%silk from Flinkhand. (sold out by now) Some years ago, I spun another colour of the same fiber and was equally pleased. I think this yarn is going to be woven, but I'm not entirely sure. But I am sure to whom this is going to belong:)

eine kühle Brise /a cool breeze

ist hier vorbeigeweht, das war bei dem schwülen Wetter auch echt gut so :) Aber nicht nur als Lufthauch, nein, passend zum Wetter hab ich eine Sommermischung versponnen: 70% Merino, 25% Leinen und´5% Seide plus ein paar Goodies (Nylon und Angelina im Zehntelgrammbereich). Der Strang hat ca. 308m/105g und ist irgendwie sehr fließend. Der letzte Rolag (hab grad noch ans Foto gedacht) sah in etwa so aus (allerdings etwas heller)

Warmth Of Summer...

...hab ich dieses Garn getauft: Wie so oft bei mir in Blau-Grün-Tönen, aus selbstkardierten Batts mit allem Drum und Dran (4 verschiedene Farben Seide, 5 Farben Wolle, weißes Nylon und Angelina), als relativ dickes Garn ausgesponnen und dann noch navajoverzwirnt. Schlussendlich sind wir bei 145m/105g gelandet, also wirklich kuschelweich und dick. Das wird wohl mal eine richtig warme Wintermütze, die mich dann eben an die Sommerwärme im Titel erinnert... mir ging beim Spinnen die ganze Zeit eine Liedzeile durch den Kopf.... think of the spring, think of the warmth of summer.. ich mag das Lied sehr gerne und es passt ganz gut zu meiner derzeitigen Laune, deshalb war das eins von den Garnen, bei dem  mir sofort ein Name eingefallen ist. Aber genug geredet, hier kommen die Bilder ;)

....is what I called this yarn: as very common in blue and green and made of self-carded batts containig all sorts of goodies (5 colours of wool, 4 colours of silk, white nylon and Angelina). I spun a rather thick yarn and navajo-plied it, so I finally arrived at 145m/105g, reeeally soft and squishy. The yarn is probably going to become a winter hat to remind me of summer's warmth, just like in the title, coming from a song line that kept coming back while I was Spinning this.... think of the spring, think of the warmth of summer... I really like that song and it fits my mood rather well, so with this yarn it was very easy to find a name. But enough of talking, let's go on with the pics ;)

Wieder da :) / Back again

Sooo, nach einer (zugegebenermaßen ziemlich langen ) Pause bin ich jetzt wieder voll da ;) In diesen 2,5 Monaten hab ich

• mein Abitur bestanden
• viel gesponnen
• in Adventon gelagert
• einen Einkochtopf und einen Wollwickler geschenkt bekommen
• eine Brettchenborte fertig gemacht und eine neue schon wieder halb durch
• eine Tasche gewebfilzt
• angefangen, meine Sachen (auch die Wolle) auszumisten und zu sortieren
• und gaaaaaanz viele Ideen gesammelt.

Sooo, after a Little (ok, not so Little) break I'm back again ;) During These 2,5 months I

• did my A-Levels
• spun a lot
• were on a medieval Festival
• got a wool winder and a dyepot
• finished one tablet-woven border and started the next one (already halfway through)
• wove and feltet a bag
• started revising and throwing out my stuff (incl. some of my horrible acrylic yarn remainders)
• and colllected loads of ideas.

Von einigen dieser Projekte werde ich euch in den nächsten Tagen und Wochen berichten, heute fange ich einfach mal mit diesem tollen Garn an:

208g, 1228m, 50/50 Seide/Merino, gefärbt von Melinoliesl. Der Kammzug hieß "Im Jahr des Drachen" und sah so aus (zumindest ein Teil davon)

Längs geteilt und versponnen sah die eine Spule dann so aus:

 Und so sind die fertigen Knäuel, direkt von meinem neuen Wollwickler. Das linke ging nicht ganz drauf, da musste ich außen von Hand nachwickeln.

Das war mein "Lerngarn", ich hatte meinen Stoff aufs Diktiergerät gesprochen und hab beim Hören gesponnen. Das war Deutsch, Englisch und Mathe ;)

That was my "study yarn", I spun it while listening to German, English and Maths Tasks.

ein wunderbares Wellentuch../ a wonderful wave shawl

,....ist bei mir fertig geworden, und  zwar in Rekordzeit. Ich habe nicht mal 2 Wochen gebraucht. Angeschlagen am 22.3 und am 3.4. fertig geworden. Das Tuch hatte ich euch glaub ich schon mal als Anstricksel gezeigt, jetzt sieht es so aus:
..was finished here at record speed: I didn't even need two weeks. Cast on on 22.3 and finished 3.4.. I think I showed you the beginning of the ´shawl, now it looks like this:

 Das Muster heißt Juist und es sieht wirklich irgendwie nach Nordsee aus. Ich habe ziemlich viele Perlchen verbraucht (4,5 mm, 1,5 Dosen), deshalb waren die letzten Reihen etwas frustrierend. Aber das Tuch ist es absolut wert. Hier noch einmal die Perlchen im Detail:

The pattern is called Juist and it really looks like North Sea. I used up quite a sum of beads (4.5 mm, 1,5 boxes) so the final rows were kind of frustrating, but it's absolutely worth it. Here a Close-up of the bead selvedge:

Der Kammzug war ja wie schon erzählt "Wasserwelten" von Melinoliesl, selbst versponnen.

As I told you before, the roving was called "Wasserwelten" dyed by Melinoliesl and spun by myself

Graue Maus.../ grey mouse...

...habe ich dieses Garn genannt (bzw. eine Beobachterin die Rolags, O-Ton "das sieht aus wie ein Mäusenest"). Der Name passt irgendwie, weil naturgraues Merino, aber die silberfarbene Seide fällt in eine etwas andere Kategorie;) Der Strang wiegt 139 g, den Zettel mit der Lauflänge hab ich verlegt. Zusätzlich gab es einen kleinen blauen Strang mit blauer Seide und Merino 21 Mikron, der gleich gesponnen ist (Zweifachzwirn, etwa Nadel 4-5). Vermutlich werden die beiden Stränge zusammen verwebt werden und einen gestreiften oder karierten Schal ergeben.

 

... is the name I Chose for this yarn (or rather: an Observant stated that the rolags looked like a mice nest). The name fits it, on one Hand, because it consists of natural Grey Merino, but the silver silk is Kind of different ;) The skein weighs 139 gms, but I lost my notes about the length.

Additionally, I made a smaller blue skein with blue silk and very soft Merino spun alike (2-ply, suiting needle nr. 4-5 mm). I think both skeins will be woven into a striped or checked scarf together.

Nordsee die nächste /North Sea for the next time

Irgendwie kommt bei mir das Thema Nordsee immer wieder. So ist in der letzten Zeit ein Corespun entstanden, aus Rolags die ich unterwegs kardiert hatte. Fertig sieht das so aus (leider hab ich keine genauen Lauflänge- und Gewichtsangaben und keine Bilder von den Rolags..tststs :))

Somehow the topic "North Sea" keeps reappearing in my works. For example, I made a corespun out of rolags I had carded while on a visit. Finished, it looks like this (unfortunately I don't have any specific facts such as weight or length and no rolag pictures...)

So siehts aus, das Knäuel ist ungefähr so groß wie ein Tennisball.

Außerdem stricke ich grade noch ein Nordseetuch, nämlich Juist von Elke Borchert

Hier seht ihr meine Version bei Ravelry. Es ist ein ganz einfaches Tuch, aber im Moment brauch ich solche mindless- knitting- Projekte.

Furthermore, I'm knitting a North sea Shawl: 'Juist' by Elke Borchert. Following the link you can see my version on ravelry. It's a really simple Shawl, but at the moment I need mindless knitting Projects.

Das Garn dafür ist selbstgesponnen aus diesem Kammzugrest, der von der Melinoliesl gefärbt wurde: Wasserwelten hieß er. Das Garn ist sehr dünn, etwas unter Sockenwollstärke. Mal schauen, wie das Tuch wird.

The yarn is my own handspun from this roving remainder dyed by Melinoliesl: Wasserwelten. The yarn is quite thin, a little less than sockweight. We'll see what the Shawl looks like.

Nachdem diese Projekte grad so wunderbar zum Thema passen geht's ab damit zum Themenspinnen !

Auch hier war Fasching.../ Carnival

...leider mit heftiger Rüsselseuche. Weil ich die Wolle nicht verseuchen wollte, war nicht viel los mit Wolle. Aber von vorher hätte ich noch einiges zu zeigen: zum Beispiel den Seemann, der bei mir vorbeigeschaut hat: und zwar in Form dieses Garns. Es wiegt knapp 60g, die Lauflänge habe ich nicht gemessen. Es muss aber so um 60m liegen...... na ja..

....unfortunately all ill. Since I didn't want to 'contaminate' my wool, I didn't do much crafts lately, but I have some works left to show you from before: for example this 'seafarer' who dropped by in form of this yarn. It weighs about 60 gms, but I didn't measure the length... it must be around 60ms.

Verstrickt sah das ganze so aus: Wieder das bekannte Wellen-Fallmaschenmuster.

Entstanden ist das Garn aus diesen netten Röllchen:

The yarn was made out of these nice rolags:

Dieses Blending Board ist nämlich bei mir eingezogen: aus Kardenbelag von Tom Walther und einem Buchenholzbrett einfach selbst gemacht. Dann haben wir den Belag mit doppelseitigem Klebeband festgeklebt und mit ein paar Polsternägeln am Rand angenagelt. Die Wolle wird mit einem Lasurpinsel engebürstet, der hat schön feine Borsten und haart nicht.

Damit sind auch die 36 grauen Röllchen oben entstanden;) ich war einige Weile nur am kardieren.

This blending board moved in here: We made it from carding cloth (bought at Tom Walther's) and a board ;) Then we glued the cloth onto the board using double-faced adhesive band. Finally, we nailed it onto the board. The wool is brushed into the cloth using a soft and non-hairing paintbrush.
With this board, I made the 36 gray rolags upside,too ;) I was quite busy carding for a while ;))

Wasserwelten II

Aus diesem Kammzugrest "Wasserwelten" von Melinoliesl, den ich euch hier schon mal gezeigt hatte, ist jetzt noch dieses Garn entstanden. Diesmal navajogezwirnt mit 96 g und 297m Lauflänge. Da der Strang so schön ausgewogen war, habe ich ihn nicht gewässert. Weil es aber glaube ich Polwarth ist, wird das fertige Strickstück dann schön flauschig ;)

 

From this roving remainder "underwater worlds dyed by Melinoliesl (which I showed you before) I now spun this yarn. Navajo plied, 96 gms and 297m. Since the skein was really balanced, I did not soak it, but it's Polwarth, so I guess the finished knitting will be really cuddly ;)

Wasserwelten- Underwater worlds

 So hieß der Kammzug, den ich anfang Dezember bei der Melinoliesl gekauft habe. 140 g von den 244 g sind inzwischen versponnen, 1503 m Lauflänge sind's geworden. Die Joy läuft so leise und flott, da wird das Garn fast von allein so dünn. Aus den 140g wird ein Lacetuch, der Rest wird genauso dünn gesponnen und navajoverzwirnt. Das wird vielleicht ein Paar Handschuhe, mal sehen.

that was the name of the roving I bought from Melinoliesl some weeks ago. 140 gms of the 244 gms are already spun, measuring 1503 m. Since the Joy is so nice and smooth to spin, the yarn seems to become so lacy all alone.The 140 gms will become a lace shawl, and the rest (spun similar thick and then navajo-plied) probably some gloves...we'll see.

Regenwürmer in orange- orange earthworms

 

hat es bei mir gegeben, nachdem bei mir ein Ashford Joy eingezogen ist . Bei 34g misst das Garn knapp 12 m. Also ein Riesenregenwurm ;)

 

have developed with me since an Ashford Joy moved in. Weighing 34 gms the yarn measures about 12m, so it's a reeeally giant earthworm.

So, nachdem über die letzten Wochen bei mir viel entstanden ist, aber keine Zeit zum Bloggen war, gibt's jetzt in den nächsten Tagen  bei mir ein paar Posts mehr als üblich.

Since I finished much during the last weeks but didn't have time for blogging,there will be some more posts than usual during the next days.

Mohair- Kuschelschal / Mohair cuddle scarf

Noch etwas ist bei mir fertig geworden: ein Kuschelschal mit Mohair.
Another UFO finished: a very cuddly mohair scarf.

In den gleichen Farben hatte ich 100g BFL und ein 50-g-Knäul von einem Mohairgarn gefärbt, die ich dann miteinander verzwirnt habe. Verwebt entstand ein kuschelweicher Schal mit sehr weichen Farbübergängen, da der Farbrapport auf dem im Strang gefärbten Industriegarn natürlich viel kürzer war.

I had dyed 100g BFL and a 50-gms- ball of mohair thread in the same colours and plyed them. Woven, a scarf with very soft colour changing evolved since the ball yarn had real short stripes.

Fasertest: Kamelhaar Fiber test: camel hair

Ich habe eine neue Lieblingsfaser: Kamelhaar! Extrem weich, eine superschöne Naturfarbe und lässt sich richtig dünn ausspinnen.

I have a new favourite fiber: camel! Really soft, a beautiful natural colour and you can spin really thin threads out of it.

 

Tja, und nun zu den Nachteilen: nasses Kamel stinkt wesentlich mehr als nasses Schaf! Und der Kammzug fusselt wie Sau, sodass ich mich zum Spinnen auf die Terrasse setzen musste. Im Teppich hätte die Faser nichts genutzt;)

But it also has some disadvantages: wet camel hair smells much more than wet wool! And the roving was really fuzzy, so I went into the garden for spinning. I wouldn't quite have appreciated the fiber in my carpet.

Schwabsburger Garn

Aus meinen Wiesensalat- Kammzügen vom Schwabsburger Wollfest sind zwei weiche, dicke Wintergarne geworden.

 

I spun my Wiesensalat rovings from the Schwabsburg wool fare into two thick, soft winter yarns.

 

Beide etwa für Nadelstärke 6. Die grünen Singles habe ich miteinander verzwirnt. Im Herbst wird das ein Drop Stitch Scarf.

 

They're about needle size 6mm. I plied both green singles together. In autumn, I will knit a Drop stitch scarf of it.

Wollmaus

In den letzten Wochen habe ich mehrere Art Yarns gesponnen:

 

Ein rotes Kringelgarn, aus selbstkardierten Batts und rotem Konennähgarn. Aus einem Teil davon habe ich mir eine Handytasche gestrickt. Aber Lauflänge und Gewicht weiß ich nicht mehr.

 

During the last few weeks, I spun several Art Yarns:

a red curly yarn of self- carded batts and red sewing thread. I knit a mobile phone bag out of a part, but I forgot about length and weight.

 

 

Dasselbe in blau:

Sogar mit ein paar kleinen Perlchen :) aber das Bild lädt irgendwie grad nicht :(

it even contains some beads:) but the close-up pic doesn't work properly:(

 

Außerdem noch blaues Boucle, aber die Farben sind eigentlich heller.

Das wird ein Fallmaschencowl, der auch schon angestrickt ist.

I'm gonna knit it up as a drop stitch cowl (I actually started up already)
